How To Be Involved at the Huntington Beach Community Garden

Ways To Be Involved

While there is a waiting list to get a plot at the Huntington Beach Community Garden, all city residents are able to become members for $10, and to apply for a plot assignment to get on the list.

Non-residents who desire to support organic gardening in Huntington Beach are also welcome to become members of the non-profit!

Even when there are no plots available, there are many ways to work with the organization.

All members are invited to participate in all of the educational meetings, the pot luck celebrations, and promotional events. Plot renters of the garden are required to attend two garden work parties each year or complete four hours of volunteer time.

There are several committees that welcome your participation:

Harvest Brigade Committee: Deliver donated produce from the garden to local nonprofits.

Garden Events Committee: Plan promotional events for the garden (i.e., HB Green Expo and Forum; Harvest Celebration; and Holiday Celebration, etc)

Scouting Committee: Provide outreach to get Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops involved in the garden.

Volunteer Committee: Coordinate and grow the volunteer base for the garden.

Communications Committee: Maintain the garden’s social media and Internet presence.

The garden – a nonprofit – charges a $10 membership fee annually. For information about how to get involved, visit huntingtonbeachcommunitygarden.com, then “Membership.”
