The Huntington Beach Community Garden has a Board of Directors and several committees in which volunteers can select from when deciding how and where to get involved.
Please remember, we invite you to get involved and yes, we need your help! Here are a few committees that are eager for volunteer support
Harvest Brigade Committee – Dedicated to ensuring the gardens donated bounty reaches vital agencies that look forward to and depend on our delicious food donations. Nearly a dozen organizations have benefited from the donated food that our passionate and generous volunteer gardeners provide.
Garden Events Committee – Volunteers who enjoy planning and bringing special events to life to benefit the community and the HBCG (e.g., Green Expo, education presentations, master gardening forums, leading scout tours, Harvest Potluck, Holiday Party, etc).
Scouting Committee – Dedicated to providing outreach to individual Scouts and Troops seeking a deeper understanding of community gardening. This committee seeks volunteers with a scouting background (or a passion for scouting) who can support Scout/Troop tours, Eagle Scout Leadership Projects, Girl Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards and Girl Scout Journey programs benefiting the community and the HBCG.
Volunteer Coordination Committee – A community outreach committee dedicated to growing our volunteer base and working with ongoing volunteer activities (e.g. monthly garden clean-up days). This is a key committee that supports all garden activities and allows the community to get involved in areas of particular interest (e.g., delivering donated food, garden maintenance and upkeep, assisting with demonstration gardens, etc), and much more.
Communications Committee – Volunteers who have talent in keeping the HBCG visible and accessible via old school technology, and social media. We are looking for volunteers who to assist with HBCG image/branding/outreach, banner design, generating press coverage, public relations, our WordPress website, facebook, social media, etc.
