How to Organize a Community Garden

The American Community Gardening Association is a nonprofit that believes community gardening improves people’s quality of life by, among other things, providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development, stimulating social interaction, producing nutritious food and reducing family food budgets.

It has 508 member gardens across the United States and Canada, including 57 in California. There are five in Orange County. Garden Grove’s community garden is not a member.

The association raised more than $135,000 in donations for the 2012-2013 fiscal year and 71 percent of all money goes back to its member gardens.
